Music Video Premier!

Here it is, our brand new video for “Open Air” directed by the talented James Bailey!

Below, you can also check out what Abbey Simmons of Sound on the Sound had to say about our premier last Thursday at the High Dive!

Late last night a crowded High Dive got a glimpse of Lemolo (and local photographer James Bailey’s) debut video for their breathy heart-beat of a single “Open Air.” Much like Lemolo’s songs, Bailey’s video sets a mood rather than telling a story, and based on the instantaneous roar of the crowd when the video finished and when the band took the stage, Seattle is definitely in the mood.

As Lemolo played their set to a crowd who had come there for them, who stood in line to buy posters featuring elegant profiles of the band and who then stood in another line to get the ladies to sign their just-purchased posters (at 1am, on a school night), I found myself with an unshakable case of deja vu. Not even a year ago I saw a similarly crowded High Dive have the same ebullient response to the Head and the Heart. And while its hard to imagine any local band following anything close to the HATH’s sky-rocketing trajectory, if its going to happen to anyone in 2011, my money is on Lemolo.  Read More

City Arts Magazine, High Dive Show and a Music Video!

February has been great thus far! If you haven’t heard yet, we were asked to give our go to “wooing” song for a Valentine’s Day piece in the newest issue of City Arts Magazine! You can check out our song pick here, but as a hint we’ll just tell you we love two things:  Gwyneth Paltrow and Huey Lewis.

We’re playing a show this month at the High Dive on February 24th with Garage Voice and Washington Mile that is sure to be an amazing night. We’ll be selling this poster set at the show so be sure to get  there early to grab your copy!

(Posters made by the amazing Patrick Toney of Garage Voice)

We’re also excited to announce that we just finished our first official music video to our song “Open Air”! We’re really looking forward to releasing it to you all, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for that in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, you can enjoy this particular “WHALE” song that I’ve fallen in love with:

Today Reverb Recommends You Spend 15 Minutes With Seattle’s Electro-Folk Duo, Lemolo

By Chris Kornelis, Mon., Jan. 24 2011 @ 7:00AM

Let’s assume for a minute that you live in Seattle, catch more than the average number of shows, spend time at the Comet but also the Tractor. You enjoy rock, folk, and indie pop, and you enjoy 206 hip-hop in the same way that you like your steak to be happy before it’s on your plate. Chances are you’re going to like Lemolo, a low-fi, electro-folk duo that is sure to seduce fans of Seattle-style indie/rock/folk, most especially those who listed Beach House’s Teen Dream among their favorite records of the year. Mercifully, Meagan Grandall and Kendra Cox put their own spin on these genres, with haunting results.

The ladies currently have available an EP (April’s Lounge Light) and a single (November’s The Singles Record), and their next project–they haven’t decided if it’s going to be an EP or a full-length–has recently been added to the list of things we’re looking forward to in 2011. What we’ve heard thus far are some of the most promising expansions on the pretty sounds that have dominated the local zeitgeist. And we’re ready to be wowed by what comes next.

At the moment, Grandall and Cox are working on a video for “Open Air”–a track off The Singles Record–with Seattle photog James Bailey, and their next show is a headlining set at the High Dive on Feb. 24.

Listen early, folks, and listen often.

Thanks for reading!  And you can check out this piece in its entirety here.

2011: Off To A Great Start

Wow, this year has been so amazing and we’re only two weeks in! Today not only are we playing a show at Neumos with The Head and The Heart and Curtains for You but Whale Song is the featured “Song of the Day” on KEXP. We are more than thrilled and honestly feel so blessed with all the support we’ve been feeling lately.

On that note, lately we’ve been up to a lot of scheming and have some cool things coming your way like a music video for our second single off our Singles Record, “Open Air” that will be directed by the lovely and talented James Bailey. We met with photographer Ben Blood, and artist Patrick Toney (from Garage Voice) for a portrait session for an upcoming show poster that is bound to be amazing with those two working on it and to top it off we are in the works of ordering more copies of our EP (new colors!)  because we have almost sold out of our first run!

Thanks again and we’re really looking forward spending this year with you!

xoxo,
Kendra & Meagan
