Demo Season

Lemolo Demo Recording
Last weekend I spent my time holed up in the studio recording demos of all of my new tunes. I recorded seventeen new songs, and am really excited about how they turned out. I’m looking forward to spending a lot of time listening to these, working on making them better, and figuring out which ones to put on the next Lemolo record. I can’t wait to share these new songs with you!

Checking In

The last few months have been a big time of transition for me and I have been staying busy rounding out my vision for the future. There are still a lot of unknowns, but I have been writing new songs like a maniac and am really excited about how they are coming along. Right now I have about twenty new songs, although some are more finished than others. Sometime in the next month I hope to get into the studio and record demos of all of them. I think that will be a great next step and will help me determine which songs I want to put on the next album and which songs I want to keep working on. Last week was also a big week for me as I bought myself some new pedals and a new keyboard! For the last twelve years I have been playing an old Yamaha keyboard my parents gifted me in high school. It has served me well, but I’m more than ready to move on. :) Having new equipment is such a dream. I’m looking forward to spending the next few weeks hunkered down in my bedroom studio experimenting with it, and I’ll be sure to keep you posted on my progress.

Meet the McPhersons

McPhersons
This is Yvonne McPherson, and she is kissing her husband Rico. That is their son, Hayden standing close by. They are a beautiful family full of love, but the sad reality is that Rico was recently diagnosed with stage four liver cancer and was told he only has a handful of months to live. Not only that but he was also denied healthcare coverage. I have never understood why bad things can happen to such good people.

Yvonne and Rico live in Ballard and are both hairstylists. Yvonne owns and operates Poulsbo’s Inspiritu Salon, and I had the pleasure of meeting her back in 2009 when I needed a fresh haircut for a Lemolo show. I think I actually asked her to fix the terrible mess I made when I attempted to cut my own bangs (a mistake I will never make again). In 2010 she was the master creator behind the perm that I gifted Kendra for Christmas. Do you remember that perm? Yvonne has been a part of my family ever since, always encouraging me in my music and supporting the band to no end.

As soon as I heard about the struggle that her family is going through, I knew I had to share her story with you. I invite you to Fight Against Cancer with Team McPherson on Facebook, and get to know my friends. The way that they are handling this struggle with such grace and positivity amazes me, and I know they would love your support.
