Wow, this year has been so amazing and we’re only two weeks in! Today not only are we playing a show at Neumos with The Head and The Heart and Curtains for You but Whale Song is the featured “Song of the Day” on KEXP. We are more than thrilled and honestly feel so blessed with all the support we’ve been feeling lately.

On that note, lately we’ve been up to a lot of scheming and have some cool things coming your way like a music video for our second single off our Singles Record, “Open Air” that will be directed by the lovely and talented James Bailey. We met with photographer Ben Blood, and artist Patrick Toney (from Garage Voice) for a portrait session for an upcoming show poster that is bound to be amazing with those two working on it and to top it off we are in the works of ordering more copies of our EP (new colors!)  because we have almost sold out of our first run!

Check out this blog post from Sam Mouser, the Music Director of UW’s Rainy Dawg Radio!  We are excited that “Whale Song” made the cut and is on the list of “Best Songs of 2010”!  Here is what he had to say:

“Whale Song” is an entirely unobtrusive title for such a dazzling track, and although Seattle’s Lemolo might not be on your radar yet, they’re sure to be there soon. Oceanographic lyrics, overcast keys, and Meagan Grandall’s lingering vocals help make “Whale Song” the aural equivalent of a ferry ride across Puget Sound. The track’s production is spacious, layering reverb-drenched guitar and vocal harmonies over a simple casiotone drum pattern, and its b-side, as if to punctuate the mini-release’s theme, is a piano-and-drums-driven nocturne called “Open Air.” Listen to that, as well as their debut EP, Lounge Light, over on their Bandcamp, and then go see them open for the Head and the Heart at Neumos on January 14^th.

“Meagan Grandall and Kendra Cox’s breathy, downtempo folk project Lemolo is pretty and sleek — sort of how the way a nice silk dress feels between your fingertips. Though Lemolo is a young band with one single (“Whale Song”/”Open Air”) and a few kinks to work out, any snags in this particular outfit are barely noticeable when you look at the whole picture. Piano, percussion and guitar serve as mere backdrop to Grandall’s moody, sumptuous lead vocals. For the most part, this is quiet-time music, but when Grandall surprises you and belts it out, the ambient, Beach-House sound gives way to a titillating pop sensibility that’s hardly fit for naptime.
